Since screening the next two episodes for free, I accept that this version of the story is loved by some. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Episode VII) Rating: PG-13. I was reacting to the depiction of a total breakdown of the accomplishments depicted in my childhood stories, down to and maybe most painful being Han and Leia seperated. I remained hopeful, but consumed all spoilers for the next one to avoid the 'punched in the gut' feeling I got leaving TFA. I left TFA feeling concerned that for the first time in my life, I might never enjoy a new Star Wars story. That was clear and the writer/director later admitted that he attempted an 'homage.' TFA was deliberately using as many references and shots from ANH and some from the OT and the story outline from ANH. Having followed and enjoyed all Star Wars for 38 years, I went into TFA knowing that the EU was not going to be adapted or have another story added in movie form for 'creative freedom' and that the story wasn't going to adapt George Lucas' story ideas.
